On 15th September 2014 the National Authority of the Bulgaria-Turkey IPA CBC Programme 2014-2020– the Ministry for European Union Affairs of the Republic of Turkey - has sent the official approval of the content of the programmer and the agreement for submitting the Programme document and its annexes to the European Commission for approval.
In addition, at its regular meeting on 17th September, 2014, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria adopted a decision that agrees with the content of the draft Programme for Cross-border cooperation between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Turkey 2014-2020. On 19th September 2014 the Final draft of the Bulgaria – Turkey IPA CBC Programme 2014-2020 was submitted for approval to the European Commission.
The Programme will be implemented in 2014-2020, and will create opportunities for the realization of projects for development of the border regions and to promote partnership between the two countries. The Programme envisages providing support under the following thematic priorities:
- Protecting the environment and promoting climate change adaptation and mitigation, risk prevention and management.
- Encouraging tourism and cultural and natural heritage;
Target groups and main types of Programme beneficiaries are national, regional and local authorities, public and non-governmental organizations, cultural institutions and educational institutions, which is a prerequisite for improving the knowledge and utilization of best practices in improving the ongoing regional and local development policies.
For the implementation of the Programme for Cross-border cooperation between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Turkey 2014-2020 are provided funds amounting to € 29 642 894,12 (€25 196 460 provided by the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA II). The Bulgarian and Turkish national co-financing covers 15% of the approved budget of both countries Project partners.
