Joint Monitoring Committee meeting under the Bulgaria -Turkey IPA Cross-border Programme took place in Edirne

Мeeting of the Joint Monitoring Committee (JMC) of Bulgaria-Turkey Cross-Border Programme, co-financed by the European Union through the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA), was held on June 18, 2014 in Edirne, Turkey.

From the Turkish side the meeting was chaired by Ms. Beyza Turan - Director of Financial Cooperation Directorate at the Ministry for EU Affairs of Republic of Turkey; co-chairperson of the JMC from Bulgarian side was Ms. Klimentina Deneva, Secretary General of the Ministry of Regional Development of the Republic of Bulgaria. Ms. Maria Duzova, Director General of the Directorate General “Territorial Cooperation Management” participated in the meeting on behalf of the Managing Authority of the Programme. The Regional and Urban Policy DG at the European Commission has been represented by Ms. Fausta Corda. Ms. Virve Vimpre participated in the meeting on behalf of the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey.

 

The Joint Monitoring Committee that comprises of representatives of the central governmental administrations of the two countries, the regional administrations and non-governmental organizations from the border region discussed and approved the Annual Implementation Report of the Programme for 2013.

During the meeting proposals for contracting additional projects from the reserve list under the 3rd Call were reviewed. JMC took decision for financing of additional projects, in order to ensure the good management of the available financial resources, as well as to raise the percentage of absorption of funds under the Programme.
