The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, Republic of Bulgaria (Managing Authority) has published a list of the projects, funded under the Second Call for proposal within the Bulgaria-Turkey IPA Cross-border Programme. Until February 7, 2013, 23 joint Bulgarian-Turkish cross border cooperation projects were funded with the total of 5,7 million Euros nearly while over 4,8 million Euros of them are EU contribution. Six of the projects are investment, and 17 are soft projects.
The programme aims to provide opportunities for joint initiatives and practices for social and economic development and for the improvement of the quality of life in the cross - border area (the regions of Haskovo, Yambol and Burgas in Bulgaria; and provinces of Edirne and Kirklareli in Turkey). 39 % of the project lead partners which receive funding under the 2d Call are governmental institutions (local authority, subsidiary structure of local authority, regional authority, national authority or subsidiary and etc.), 51% are non-governmental institutions (chamber of commerce and other NGOs), while the rest 10% are educational institutions.
